What IS a Shampoo & Set?

If you come in to a hair salon for a shampoo and set, here's what the stylist will do: shampoo and condition your hair, towel-dry it, and then wind your wet hair on rollers to produce a curly style. You can choose from a range of "holds" for your style, depending on what kind of curl you're looking for.

Shampooing and setting is often done before executing "up-dos" for special occasions. It provides a voluminous and beautiful base for many fancier hairstyles.

It generally takes about an hour to 90 minutes to complete a shampoo and set, depending on the length of your hair and the type of curl you're looking for (which determines the size of the rollers used).
